Google Offers $10Million For Your Ideas
All of us have ideas of how to make the world a better place. Mine would be to outlaw productivity.
If you think you have a great idea that can change the world, you could be one of the lucky people picked by Google as part of the Project 10^100. Google will pick the top 100 from all submissions, and its users will narrow the list down to 20 by voting. A panel of judges will then select 5 submissions that will be funded.
Some of the categories are community, education, health, and environment. For the full list, head over to the site. The deadline for submissions is on October 20, 2008.

Google is really intelligent in this way, aggregates ideas of all and use it on their implementations… But the best ones are surely encouraged….

I think this offer by Google itself is a great idea. There are so many brilliant ideas floating amongst the general public but no accessible avenue to make it happen. Kudos to Google and yourself for mentioning it.

Google once again proves that is a leader in innovation, and also they prove they really know what are they doing. They are using their position and know this investment can make them much more in long term, but also know that the other side will be happy also. The problem will be to find a such a idea, but hey, not everyone make $10 million in one day.

I am glad that you informed about this idea as I had not run across it as of yet. I feel that it will bring about some ideas that people would have kept unmentioned if not for the contest.

This is silly, Google uses a mere fraction of the suggestions on the web for Google, why encourage more?

This is wonderful! My fiance works at a biodiesel plant and he has ideas that his company is too closed minded to listen to. He does not have the funds to do them on his own so maybe we should submit them to Google and see where we land on this.

Not true that Google will “give away’ the money to the one who suggests the idea. Read the rules! If they like your idea, you will get credit and good karma but no money. They will give the money to an organization THEY decide is most able to implement the idea.
cheers

Google have their detractors, but you can’t deny that they also are investing some of their substantial revenue into worthwhile projects such as this, environmental projects and sponsoring the space X-Prizes. All of which could benefit out civiilzation as a whole.

Is this really altruism from Google or it a way to outsource new ideas that they can use from people’s suggestions?
