Google Acquires Omnisio

[Omnisio Logo]Google has acquired Omnisio in what seems like a bid to improve the YouTube experience. Omnisio is a service that allows users to add annotations to videos of their choice.

The announcement on the YouTube blog states:

As you probably guessed, we’re big fans of anything that lets people interact with online video and gives the YouTube community the chance to express themselves in creative ways. New features such as Video Annotations, which allow you to insert comments and information into the video itself, are just one example of how we’re beginning to expand what you can do with your videos on the site.

Omnisio also lets users assemble their own video from different clips and add their own commentary. People using the service to post videos on their site or blog can have their friends add comments directly into the video.
