When A Picture Is Worth A Thousand Notes

Most of you would say that the majority of the images in your collection look great. If I were to ask how many images in your collection sounded great what would you say? You would probably think I was crazy (I am heh).

RGB MusicLab by Kenji Kojima is a free application for Win XP, 2000, and Vista that converts the RGB value of an image to chromatic sounds. Here’s a snippet from the official description:

One pixel makes a harmony of three notes of RGB value, and the length of the note is determined by brightness of the pixel. RGB value 120 or 121 is the center C, and RGB value 122 or 123 is added a half step of the scale that is C#.

You can select which instrument you want the software to use but that’s about it. The software will automatically create music from your image. Sometimes you’ll get good results while some of your images will generate unpleasant sounds.

Give RGB MusicLab a spin and see if you’ve got any image that can top the charts.

The software requires Apple Quicktime.
