A Peek At WordPress 2.5
Those of you who haven’t been upgrading your WordPress installations due to laziness or lack of time might just change your mind when you see how 2.5 will look. A sneak peek provided by Matt shows an upgraded interface with sweet new features to boot.
Out of the box, WordPress 2.5 will have a customizable dashboard, built-in galleries, built-in Gravatars, multi-file uploads, one click plugin upgrades, full text feeds, tag management, and faster load times.
Sounds good right? Let’s take a look at some screenshots.
The Dashboard has been redesigned to display a summary of incoming links, recent comments, scheduled posts, blog stats, along with WordPress updates and news.

Navigation is better organized with the separation of primary and secondary options.

The new Write page has a cool new feature: the ability to have the visual editor go full screen. That should help you focus on what you’re writing heh.

The Manage screen has been redesigned and looks great as well. You can opt to use the old colors if you miss them and even create your own color scheme.

The first release candidate is available for download for those who wish to participate in the testing.
Will you be upgrading to 2.5 when it’s finished?

I’m quite sure a lot of our plugins will be hit by the upgrade. Time to prep up that dummy wordpress installation to test 2.5

Wow, that is a great logo. I will definitely be upgrading, though I might only upgrade a couple sites until all plugins are compatible and I get used to the look.

I love Wordpress so much, I cannot contain myself. I’ll never forget how it felt to move from blogspot to my new home - it was awesome.
It took a lot of work to learn how to use it, but it changed my entire view of blogging. I can’t wait for the new version, it’s very exciting

Those are some sweet features. Not sure if the tech people have upgraded the blog lately; us lowly writers will have to have a word with them.

I have been having trouble getting the WYSIWYG on my new blog www.condommonologues.com for quite a while now. So just out of curiosity I installed this new WP and it’s all working now. Hooray, and I love Orange!
It’s a little confusing to get around right away but I think it is going to be something I put on all my blogs.
Thanks for the overview.

It may look great, but there is a pain everytime a new version is available, you’ve to upgrade for security purposes, and then what you find out is that you need to upgrade the plugins too, as old ones are not working. Then I have to bug the plugin writers to upgrade their plugin.

I can’t wait for this to be officially released. I think I’ll let it air out a bit before I install it, but it does look awesome!

I am sure most of the popular plug-ins will work within days of the final release. The only major change I am looking forward to is the gallery, is there any sites up using the RC?

I cringe whenever they roll out an update. It takes quite a while to update all my blogs, then there’s the plug-in issue, plus random assorted bugs…but yes, I’m sure I’ll make the update once I can verify that my plug-ins will continue to work (or be updated).
