Tab Kit Extension For Firefox
Here’s another interesting Firefox extension that enhances your tabs. Tab Kit lets you choose whether you want your tabs displayed in multiple rows, or have it shown as a vertical tab tree on the left or right side of your browser. Though it’s still in the Mozilla Addons Sandbox, you can still download it.
Tabs can be grouped manually or automatically by domain or by parent tab. Each group is assigned a color for easy identification.

Sorting tabs is easy as you can arrange them by address, last loaded, last viewed, order of creation, and origin or title. If you’re thinking of browser crashes, Tab Kit is integrated with the session restore function so you don’t have to worry about that.
One feature that I particularly like, is the ability to bookmark an entire group of tabs. Other features like switching between tabs by using the scrollwheel and highlighting unread tabs are also present.

I’m actually using a different extension but Tab Kit looks interesting enough for me to give it a try.
What extension are you currently using for your tabs?

Sooo many tabs =) Don’t you get crazy with all those tabs opened at the same time?

Interesting addon, no doubt. But adding too many of them can slow down FF drastically.
I have only 7 extensions, and FF is flying - better go for a minimalist setup if speed is your thing.

I usually forget what tabs I have open hehehe

My problem, is that I can’t stop myself from trying out different extensions

Well, I’m sad to say I have no extension right now for my tabs.
But that might change now…

Interesting add-on. I’m using the colorful tabs one (not sure if it’s the right name though) and I may end up replacing it with this.

Cool! I hate the tab scrollers so this one will suits me well.

I’m using MixTab Plus and Faviconize Tab to help keep on top of things.
TabKit sounds nice, but I do wonder how nicely it will play with other Tab extensions - or whether I’ll need to disable the others first.
Don’t know what I’d do without Faviconize Tab - huge space saver for all those pages I always have open and can recognise their favicon.

@sylv3blade:

I use that one too
@Syahid:
Me too. I’d rather have them in multiple rows. Tab Mix Plus has that option too.
@Alex:
Faviconize sounds interesting. I think I’ll check it out, thanks
@Nirmal:
That’s true buddy. It’s mostly aesthetic

Good add-on, but it if you use many tabs for long time, it will slow down FF

As someone who uses a lot of tabs at a time, this seems like a pretty useful extension - I seem to remember having something similar a few years ago. But it can definitely slow your browser down. I’ve tried to cut down on my open tabs recently, but I’m pretty tempted to try this one out anyway.

After using this extension for a few days, I can never go back. People keep saying that too many tabs will slow down ff, but I have 28 open right now and theres not much of a difference.

@Ram:

That’s true buddy. I hope FF3 comes without memory leaks
@Liz:
Heh I’m trying to cut down on having too many open tabs too. It’s a tough battle especially with extensions like this one
@Mark:
I’m currently using Tab Mix Plus and Colorful Tabs. I’m sorely tempted to try this one out though hehe
@Brandon:
28? That’s a lot of tabs

@Brown Baron
Its more than i usually have open, I just wanted to test how many i could have without slowing down FF.

I think the most I ever had before things got slow was about 20-22 tabs .. I hope they plug all the memory leaks before releasing FF3

Thank you as this is a very useful Firefox add-on for those who tend to use a lot of tabs, especially the with the sorting options. There are also ways to adjust the width of tabs to prevent tab scrolling using about:config. The memory leaks are very unlikely to persist in Firefox 3.
June 26th, 2008 18:31
Hmmm interesting. I will install this right now.
I have a bad habit of opening a gazillion tabs at once, so this could probably make managing easy for me.

I don’t really see the value in having so many tabs opened. I find it functionally better to open again window with more tabs.

Not for me man..
All the tabs will cover my whole screen..
I have my tabs opened more than my door.
