Yahoo Launches Social News Portal

Yahoo has officially launched its social news portal, Yahoo Buzz. Similar to most social news sites, Buzz users vote on articles they like. Stories with the most votes have a good chance of hitting the front page and could possibly hit the Yahoo home page as well. With a user base of over 500 million, Buzz is sure to catch the interest of publishers looking for a new traffic source.

Currently, there seems to be no way of submitting your own articles to Buzz, although they’ve mentioned that they’ll be accepting new publishers soon.

There’s not a lot of content right now as Buzz seems to be limiting the number of publishers they’re aggregating data from.

The question now is, will it succeed? What do you guys think?
