Turn Your Desktop Background Into A Movie Player
Now I’m not sure how many of you would actually like to do this, but you can actually have your desktop background play a movie instead of displaying your wallpaper.
Crazy Desktop Video is a free application for Windows XP that will turn your desktop background into a movie screen. Your desktop shortcuts will still be there. In fact, the movie will be playing behind all programs you have running. You can add command paramaters to have the movie play in a loop or have it play without sound.

Crazy Desktop Video requires .NET Framework 2.0 and DirectX 9. You’ll need to have Active Desktop enabled.
The concept seems interesting but I’m curious to know how much system resources it needs.

If it takes too much resources, i suggest you use VLC player as it can perform the same function without consuming too much resources.

Yep, vls player is a good alternate to Vistas DreamScene feature, (which btw takes up quite a bit of processor and ram … and is a bit of a problem for anything lesser than c2d’s). Also Startdorck’s Dreams are the real thing with a lot of community content too

Personally, I don’t like video wallpapers but there is yet another option that is KM Player that supports video wallpapers and a myriad of other features. That is my favorite player but not without strong reasons. BTW it is always nice to have alternatives.
