Yahoo Buys Video Ad Company For $160 Million
It’s definitely business as usual as Yahoo! has just acquired video advertising company Maven Networks Inc. to the tune of $160 Million. While the board deliberates on Microsoft’s offer, Yahoo’s latest acquisition has turned Maven into a subsidiary owned by the search engine company.
Companies like Sony BMG and CBS Sports have been using Maven’s platform to distribute their online video. Basically, media companies use Maven’s platform to insert their ads to videos. This deal lets Yahoo sell video spots which advertisers can place their ads.
Did Microsoft know that Yahoo was planning on buying Maven? It seems that with this latest acquisition, Yahoo is looking better and better in Microsoft’s eyes.
