Brown Batch #40: Weekly Link Love

With the vast number of blogs, it’s easy to miss great content written by equally great authors. A weekly link post highlighting interesting posts by different blogs provides everyone a chance to discover new blogs they might have missed. This is the 40th edition of our Sunday tradition here at Brown Thoughts.

This week’s Brown Batch are:

  • TechMalaya - How to Post Comments Within Google Reader
  • My only problem with Google Reader is that you still have to open the originating page to leave some comments on a particular post. After some time looking for a way to bypass this, I can now post comments within Google Reader itself using a Firefox add-on created by Gina Trapani from Lifehacker.

  • SheepTech - How To Create A Strong But Easy To Remember Password
  • It is always known that strong passwords are hard to remember and vice versa. This is because strong passwords are long and consist of both alphabet and numerical. In this guide, you will be able to create a strong password that you CAN remember.

For example, from “flyingsausage” to “g2u2mhds2dsh4″. It seems impossible to remember it without referring to any notes or hint? It’s possible.

  • CyberCoder - WordPress Page Templates
  • Using Wordpress page templates is a great way to create unique pages on your Wordpress site. These are not blog posts, but custom pages. A Wordpress page template is very easy to create and the Wordpress Codex has a great tutorial to add pages to your site.

Using the page templates you can simply change your current page design or create completely new page designs. The possibilities are endless.

  • A Frog To Kiss - Turning 35 Means A Cookware Set Excites You
  • It’s a little odd, turning 35. I’ve never been one to get excited over presents such as cookware, (hell when I was a kid and unwrapped a box which contained clothes I was disappointed), but I am delighted. It’s too bad I have nothing to actually cook. I could boil some water and pretend, but that isn’t fun. Nope, I’ll wait until I can afford real food- like the pre-cooked chicken I can heat up and some rice.

  • Accounting Solver - Small Businesses: How to determine Working Capital that will work 2
  • If you do not put up enough money for Working Capital, you will be forced to incur debt or inordinately prolong accounts payable so that you get into trouble with your suppliers. Not having adequate Working Capital will place your business in an unsustainable cycle of debt.

  • Slickmania - How To: Find Success With Blogging
  • What I’ve learned in my two years of blogging is that set obtainable goals and patience is the most important skill you can have. You will have to put a lot of work in early on to develop the readership you are looking for and that is often without any monetary compensation. Once you meet a few of your goals, readers will come and the money will follow.
