Rumor: Windows 7 Scheduled For 2009?
This is one of those rumors that you just can’t resist. If you’re a Windows XP user waiting for Windows 7, you’re most likely willing to wait 2 more years instead of switching to Vista.
Interestingly enough, TG Daily have published an article that they have received a roadmap for Windows 7 and that it might just be released in 2009.
The article stated:
Several industry sources have confirmed to TG Daily that a very early version of Windows 7, previously code-named Blackcomb Vienna, already has been shipped to “key partners” as a “Milestone 1” (M1) code drop for validation purposes. A roadmap received by TG Daily indicates that the new operating system will be introduced in the second half of 2009.
Whether it’s true is anyone’s guess but I’d definitely be happy if it was. If this is true, the biggest reason would have to be the amount of people who’ve stuck with XP instead of upgrading.
If you’re wondering if this could possibly be true, here’s another part of the article:
While it has generally been believed that Windows 7 was scheduled for a 2010 debut, Microsoft has revised the roadmap and apparently moved up the release date by a few months: A recently distributed roadmap of the OS lists a release to manufacturing in H2 2009. Microsoft declined to comment on this date.
Whatever happens, once thing’s for sure, I’ll stick with XP and hope Windows 7 is worth upgrading to haha.
What do you guys think?

Personally, I don’t know what TO think. On the big hand, you have XP which works just fine and really doesn’t have any issues working with software. Then you have Vista which looks a lot slicker but doesn’t offer anything big that XP doesn’t have accept for the UAC which everyone seems to hate anyway.
AY yi yi. I just built a new rig for a friend and for some reason thought that I should install Vista on it. Now that it’s all done, I’m really wondering why I did it. ha ha No really… I wanted to give him a dual boot feature but really, why would anyone want to use Vista if you’re not developing for it?

Friend of mine whose mom works for MS says it’s definitely on its way; they’ve been working on it since before Vista was released. It’s funny to think that Vista might be another Windows ME, that just falls into computer obscurity.

Exciting! I’m curious as to what features it’s going to have.

Well, vista had such high hopes pinned with it, it really was a dissapointment, a real memmory hog, and inefficient for gaming … eventhough it boasts Dx-10. Vista is good for users who enjoy multimedia, and some office work and a little work at home, but nothing more.
I hope windows 7 really fullfills the promises made by M$ for vista. And im totally looking forward to it !

Having played around with Vista on my mother’s computer I have to say I *almost* considered switching to Apple. I then woke up and simply resolved to stick with XP for the foreseeable future!

There is no way I’m going to switch to vista after all the negative feedback I’ve heard about it. XP for the foreseeable future.
