Windows XP Service Pack 3 Release Candidate
After letting a few beta test the early version, Microsoft has announced that they’re making the latest service pack for Windows XP available for everyone to download.
A company spokeswoman stated that the release candidate would be found at the Microsoft Download Center later tonight. Windows XP Service Pack 3’s release candidate will be a 580 meg download.
For those of you who’ll be downloading this, don’t forget that it’s not the final version and it will probably be unstable for some or contain a few bugs. The final version of Windows XP Service Pack 3 is scheduled for release in 2008.
The update’s size when downloaded from the Windows Update service will be only 70 megs, although it’s unclear when the release candidate will be added to the update service.
How many of you will be downloading this?
High five to Gregg Keizer.

I tried it, three times!
I ran thru the process, got to a point and I got an error - Access Denied.” Went to the safe mode, and got 3/4 thru the installation process, and SHAZAMM! Same error. Called Dell, and they said I had to do a PC Restore. Not even. Too many files to have to re-install for a not certifiably error-proof release.
Long story short, I too will wait (some more).
