Google Talk Releases Translator Bots

Google has added translator bots to its instant messaging service. As Jonas Lindberg mentioned on the Google Talkabout blog, you can use the bots as interpreters for your chat sessions or as pocket translators for the GTalk client for Blackberry.

To use a translator, just choose from any of the 29 available bots and add it to your friends in Google Talk. So if you wanted to use the English to German translator bot, you need to add en2de@bot.talk.google.com as a friend.

The complete list of translators are: ar2en, bg2en, de2en, de2fr, el2en, en2ar, en2de, en2el, en2es, en2fr, en2it, en2ja, en2ko, en2nl, en2ru, en2zh, es2en, fi2en, fr2de, fr2en, hi2en, hr2en, it2en, ja2en, ko2en, nl2en, ru2en, uk2en, ur2en, zh2en. Don’t forget to add “@bot.talk.google.com” to your bot of choice when adding it to your friends list.

Pretty good feature. Here’s what it looks like.
