Gmail Adds Colored Labels
Looking through my email, I noticed that my labels had a background color. A quick look at the ‘Labels’ tab showed small boxes on the right that lets users choose a color for whatever labels they had.

This is actually useful as you can tell right away what the email is about from the color of the label.
Are you using colored labels too?

I saw this today and love it, love it, love it!
This really helps identify messages quickly that I leave in my inbox until I can act on them.

@Mark:
This has turned out to be a fantastic feature for me. Now I just need to make up my mind whether I want Google to give me a PR6 or add folders to Gmail … hmm probably both

I too can’t see the colour boxes.
Please post a screenshot BEFORE opening the colourchoisebox.

@Alex:
If the colored labels have been enabled for your account you will see it on the ledt side. It should be part of the section ‘Labels’ if you have any defined.

I have long used that Greasemonkey script that offered this and I definitely welcome a even better integration right within Gmail. Looks like they are going to add the Folders4Gmail GM script functionality or some kind of drag and drop as in GReader. Gmail is getting very hard to ignore by the Yahoo users.

Couldn’t see the color option. But I could see the option label in the left side.

@David:
This means that Google hasn’t rolled out the feature for everyone. They’re probably making it available to different zones by batches

I noticed that coloured labels appeared on my account a few days ago, but not had chance to play with it yet, but it sounds like it should prove pretty useful.
