    Hey Baron,

    I’m trying to focus on getting things ready for the holidays, but having a hard time doing so. Doesn’t seem like it should be almost Christmas already. This year has just flown by for me.

    I’ve reached most of my goals for the year, all except for that “rich and beautiful” one I try for every year. LOL

    I bought 2 skypephones from Three yesterday and I can’t sign in to the skype service ! :mad:
    turns out that there is a problem with PAYG phones not synchronising with skype this weekend. pah, I want to play!

    the tv on them is really good though, watched a whole episode of eastenders while I was out shopping with my lady.

    We bought our first Christmas gifts this afternoon, so I geuss that means the season has officially begun for us.

    I find it a little hard to get into the spirit with the temps still nudging into the ’80s tho. It just doesn’t feel right to hear Dean singing, “Oh, the weather outside is frightful…” when you’re still wearing short & sandals.

    We need a blustery Fall cold snap to make it feel like the holidays!

    @Rob:
    So true. It feels weird hearing Christmas carols while it’s still hot. I just wish it would get cold already.

    Oh goodie, an open thread…

    I would like for Brown Baron to explain how the Top Commentators section works. It seemed to be working as expected back when I first discovered this site, but then I noticed something strange about two weeks ago when I came back to the site after being away for a while. All of the numbers seemed to be stuck and comment totals were not increasing even though I could see that people were making comments.

    Today, however, I noticed that all of the stats were apparently reset at some point and the comment tallies seem to be working again. All of this has me wondering, is there some kind of time cutoff or statute of limitations period past which the comment stats are dumped and we have to start all over again? Or can older comments still count toward the total a few months from now? I have never used this feature before and don’t really understand how it is supposed to work.

    @Karl:
    I’ve set the plugin to reset every month so when you saw the numbers not increasing, that was probably because it was at the cutoff period.

    The plugin can be configured to reset every week, month, or year. Comments from past months won’t be added to the current month’s total :grin:

    Hey Brown Baron, with your page loading so quickly, you must have a really clean HTML content. I am surprised just a bit because other sites that have similar content take much longer to load. Do you have a different type of template than other blogs?

    @Eric:
    I’m sure I don’t have the cleanest code but I try and take out all code for plugins I don’t use, and I always try to host ad/affiliate images on my server to cut down on loading time.

    As for the template, I use the TypoXP Reloaded theme by Everton and modified it to suit my personality :grin:
