Brown Batch #29: Link Love Fiesta

Another week has gone by and that means it’s time to focus on the community of bloggers and their great articles. Each Sunday is all about the community. If you know of any article you’d like to see here next week, drop me a line at the contact page.

Be The Blog awardMy good friend Mark has created an exceptional award called Be The Blog. He also decided to give one to me, thanks buddy! To my surprise, Jos of NoDirectOn and Eric ‘Speedcat’ Hollydale have both bestowed upon me this awesome award. Thanks guys, you just made my day. The phrase ‘Be The Blog’ was Mark’s entry in a previous blogging tip meme.

The award’s official description in Mark’s words:

That phrase stuck with me because I think that really sums up what a successful blogger does. And what I mean by successful is that they make it their own, stay with it, are interactive with their readers, and just plain have fun.

Great description and an equally good looking award. I now pass on the Be The Blog Award to Ram, Vincent, Madhur, Keith, K of ShanKri-La, AntiBarbie, Opal, Snoskred, and Dj of Sizlopedia. You are all exceptional bloggers and incredible people.

This week’s Brown Batch are the following:

  • Web Infiniti - Your Theme Is Important
  • While having a custom header is important, the theme of your website, how easy on the eyes it is, and how well it functions, are all important in keeping people coming to your blog.

  • Shankar Ganesh - AVG vs Avast!
  • Norton Antivirus was the first piece of antivirus software that I installed on my system (that’s because a Norton CD accompanied my computer when I purchased it). I was watching it running for a few days, and then I got annoyed. Installation was hectic and after restart, my PC only got slower.

  • AshFame | Tech Blog - Adobe AIR Platform - How Good Is It?
  • Although the runtime is still in beta stage of testing but there are no shortage of applications based on AIR. They have a damn cool GUI (Graphical User Interface) which makes interaction a pleasant experience. Since they are based on HTML, AJAX, Flash and Flex, they are completely platform independent.

  • DNXpert dot Com - The 100 Oldest .com Domains
  • It is a well known fact that SYMBOLICS.com is the oldest domain ever, created on 15 Mar 1985. I have compiled a list of the one hundred oldest domain names known. I would think each one of these names gets quite a bit of natural traffic.

  • Erik Karey - Is Your Day Job Ruining Your Motivation?
  • Remember, your day job is a short-term fix to help you pay the bills while you develop your craft. It’s hard to jump right into relying on the internet as your primary income. Think of your day job as a good thing. It enables you to create financial security while you work towards a sustainable internet business.
