Vector Magic: Convert Raster Images Easily

For those who’ve been looking for an easy way to turn their images into vector art, I’ve got just the thing. Vector Magic is a free online image converter that will let you convert your images to vector format.
For those unfamiliar with the term, vector images are images that can be resized with no resulting blur or pixelation.

Vector Magic is a Stanford University Artificial Intelligence Laboratory research project by James Diebel and Jacob Norda. The online converter will turn any .bmp, .jpg, .gif, .tiff, .png into .svg, .eps, and .png format.
If you need a little help using the converter, there’s a video that demonstrates how to use Vector Magic.

High five to Peter Butler.

Oh Jesus, Illustrator took years to finally integrate this feature and now it’s just up there on the web for anyone to use! I remember the days of redrawing clients logos from crappy jpgs and starting off with the vector rendering from Adobe Streamline.
(sorry for the blaspheme!)

Wow, this is a good find! Ever since I started trying to include images in posts, I have been running into this issue of needing to resize images. Sometimes the resizing works OK, but other times it turns out too blurry or low quality to be worth using. Fortunately, it looks like this Vector Magic thing should help with that.

BBaron - this looks like an easy way to get scanned-in ideas for us amateur graphic folks converted over to vector drawings…
For example, I was planning on working on a logo for someone and was just thinking (prior to this posting) how am I going to get this to convert to something scalable?
BB to the rescue!
