SezWho Rolls Out The Red Carpet
SezWho, the rating and reputation system for blogs and social sites, has just launched a new set of features. What’s interesting about this service, is that SezWho doesn’t replace your existing comment system. It adds a rating and reputation system layer onto your comments. Your readers can vote on the usefulness of other people’s comments. All ratings are universal across sites that use SezWho.
The Red Carpet functions like a Top Users widget and allows blog owners to display their members who contribute the most with visual rank and a link to the comments made.
The idea behind this is that your visitors will either be intrigued and read other comments made by your top contributors, or participate more on your blog to earn a spot on the red carpet. Of course, some people would prefer using the Top Commentators plugin instead.
Another new feature is an internal tracking tool for blog owners that lets them see where their SezWho traffic is coming from.
While the idea behind SezWho is great, most people will be put off by the fact that you’ll need to create a profile with SezWho and hope that your visitors sign up there too. If it was somehow integrated with MyBlogLog or BlogCatalog, it would be a knockout.

Hey, Thanks for a great piece (I am from SezWho)…
Users do not really need to create a profile for building up reputation…Users can leave anonymous comments using their emails and based on what emails they use, we judge if they are a top member of the community and qualify for the red carpet…Of course if the users want to put up a picture etc. or control their profile they can claim it etc.

I actually like the concept. I might try it out in the future.

The commenting system is a great idea, but like you said, a lot of people are turned off because of the hassle of creating a profile. But I think its a useful tool for newbie bloggers like myself who are trying to make a name for themselves. It can be difficult to build a reputation when you’re first starting out. Thanks for tip, I will definitely look into it!

I have been watching this arena for quite some time. I was under the same impression as you about creating a profile but I like the fact they can track who you are based on your email. (Thanks Jitendra)
With a couple of new entrants like Instant Debate & Disqus, I might do a comparative post. May be someone has already done it?

Sometimes when a blog or its feed loads slow, nothing shows up. You’ll then need to add this at the bottom of your comment:
