Yahoo Messenger 9 Adds New Video And Photo Sharing Tools
With a reported 94.3 million unique users, Yahoo seems set to increase that number with the launch of its instant messaging client’s new beta. The beta for Yahoo Messenger 9 is already available and a quick look reveals new features that will strengthen Yahoo’s hold on the instant messaging market.
What’s interesting is the fact that even with 94 million users, Yahoo still hasn’t created a social network around their messenger’s user base to compete with Facebook or MySpace.
Let’s take a look at the new features.
The in-line media player will let users invite their contacts and friends to watch video or browse through their photo albums in real time. Users have the ability to share and swap photos from their Flickr accounts within the messenger interface.
Adding videos to chat sessions is as simple as typing in the url of the video you want to share.

The friends list has been redesigned to allow more information for each of your contacts. You can now have calls from Yahoo Messsenger forwarded to your mobile phone, landline, or voicemail.

Another feature that’s sure to make regular users happy, is the ability to transfer files without a size limit. Localized versions for India, the Philippines, Malaysia, Indonesia, Thailand, and Vietnam are also available.
So when will Yahoo build their own social network?

Maybe they don’t need a social network. To be honest, I really like blogs and websites better than MySpace and Facebook. Again, my opinion.

ym 9 sometimes doesn’t work right. ( for me on my pc) sometimes i’ll see 2 icons on the system tray, and sometimes when you minimize ym and try to restore it, it crashes.
and oh! the latest bug i’ve experienced. when i start a conference or join one, my ym closes. sad.

This version eats more RAM than the older version. But I love Video sharing which was not included in version 8. Thanks for sharing this. Keep it up.
