Executor: A Better Alternative To Windows Run

Most people use Windows Run to perform pings and tracerts, but hardly use it to launch actual programs. While it is possible to use the run command to launch programs, most people prefer using the start menu just because it looks better.

Executor is a free program launcher that’s customizable and much more powerful than the default Windows Run.

Users typing in keywords in Executor will notice the program’s icon being displayed on the right, and a drop down box of keywords showing possible keywords are also displayed. URL detection is included so you can just type yoursite.com or www.mysite.com.

Executor’s layout can be fully customized. You can set colors, font, dimensions, position, transparency, and even change and edit the application’s skin. Keywords can be assigned to hotkeys, with an option to assign Executor to a hotkey as well.

Executor can import and export keywords, add optional sounds, and override the Windows Run hotkey if you want. The application includes an integrated Windows context menu(for right-clicking on list items), and can even be set to display time and date when idle.

If you’re looking for a free application launcher with more options, give Executor a spin. Now I’ve got something to play with over the weekend.
