Apple To Sell Unlocked iPhones In France?

iPhone Screen ShotMost of you have probably read about Apple partnering with Orange to be the exclusive iPhone carrier in France. What’s interesting about this, is that France has a law that requires companies to sell unlocked versions of handsets that are sold as part of a subscription package.

What this means is the possibility of Orange selling locked iPhones for 399 Euro, along with an unlocked unit. The price for the unlocked iPhone has yet to be released. Orange is scheduled to start selling the popular mobile phone sometime next year.

If Apple is forced to comply with French law, they will probably price unlocked iPhones incredibly high. Of course this won’t prevent hackers in the U.S. from getting one and learning more about how to unlock the stateside models heh.

High five to Charlie Sorrel.
