Review: Compare Suite
Most of you will have similar if not exact copies of the same files scattered on your hard drive or different partitions. When it’s time to clear up some space on your hard drive, it’s a tedious task to go through duplicate files just to see which files are the latest.
Compare Suite is a file compare utility that lets you find differences between two files or folders, and gives you the option of synchronizing them if you want. Aside from folders, Compare Suite can compare text files, Microsoft Word documents, Excel spreadsheets, PDF files, HTML files, zip files, and binary files.
Text File Comparison Methods
Users who need to do a text file compare can compare text files by characters, by words, or by keywords. In character and word comparison, characters and words that have been added, deleted, and modified, are highlighted in blue, red, and green respectively.

Selecting a method for comparison is as simple as choosing from the compare drop down box within the main menu. When comparing non-related documents, or documents that don’t have a common ancestor, common and unique keywords will be highlighted in blue and green.

Folder Comparison
Compare Suite is not just a file compare software, it also gives you the option of comparing two folders and the files contained within them. When you compare two folders, the application will show you which files were deleted, changed, and which files were added.

The numbered colors in the status bar display the number of files that are new(blue), files that have been modified(green), and files that have been deleted(red). Even if you’re comparing folders, you can still compare two modified files.
Comparative Reports
Compare Suite provides users with the option of generating reports should they need a quick reference of performed comparisons. Standard and advanced reports both contain a summary of the report, comparison options, comparison details, comparison statistics, and a legend.
Other Features
Should you need to audit certain documents, you can use Compare Suite to edit compared documents and apply or decline changes that were made. This should prove useful when you need to create a document from two source files.
The command line automation option gives users the option of automating comparison and integrating Compare Suite with other software.
Server-side comparison is possible should the need arise to compare documents online.
Conclusion
Compare Suite is definitely an essential tool for anyone needing a complete set of applications for file and folder comaprison, report generation, and version control.
A 30 day fully functional trial version is available on the main product page.
