Defraggler: Defrag Your Hard Drive One File At A Time

Defraggler LogoEverybody knows that defragging your hard drive takes a lot of time. If you happen to have multiple hard drives, defragging them means that you don’t get to use your computer for half a day(scary thought).

Defraggler is a free defragmentation utility that lets you decide what files you want to defrag, when you want to. This means that you don’t need to defrag a whole drive in one go, and you can use your computer while it defrags the files you selected. Sounds good right?

Another great feature, is that you can just copy the executable file and put the app on your thumbdrive. The exe file is less than 1MB. Very nice.

Defraggler runs on Windows 2000, 2003, XP and Vista, and supports NTFS and FAT32 file systems. 64-bit support is not included in this version.

The best things in life are indeed free :mrgreen: .

    That is very useful, my old VAIO had a partitioned drive so that helped with defragging time…but my current computer just has one big C drice so this program would definitely help. I like the customizable aspect of it =)

    I haven’t tried this out yet…it’s still in beta, so I am in two minds whether to install it. :neutral:

    Is there any advantage this new defragger provides over the gazillion existing defraggers? From what I can tell, it has no automatic mode, and you still have to resort to manual or scheduled defrag, so that’s a bit of a letdown. Can it do multiple drives simultaneously?

    Since I’ve been using an automatic defragger with the automatic mode enabled for both my drives, I am a bit spoiled, you might say. :lol: It has virtually eliminated any work on my part as far as defragging is concerned, save for the occasional boot-time system files defrag. The defragger does everything else in the background, transparently, and my drives are usually low on fragmentation without my having to lift a finger :razz: .

    If defraggler can do something similar, I’ll be really impressed. :cool:

    @SherKhan:
    Not as feature-packed as the one you use. What are you using? Sounds good to me, probably be a nice post too.
