Yahoo Adds Social Search
Yahoo has revamped its search platform to include new features in a bid to compete with Google. The new search technology was built on Yahoo’s Panama advertising search platform that supposedly provides greater relevancy, increased search speed, and integrated social tools like images from Flickr.

Another added feature, is the Search Assist, which triggers when a user who’s typing a search query slows down their typing. A drop down box will appear displaying search suggestions.

Other enhancements include movie listings with trailers and local show times, videos from MetaCafe, YouTube and Yahoo, musical artist listings with touring and ticket information, and local restaurant listings.
While the changes aren’t enough to overtake Google, it gives Yahoo a better chance of competing with other search engines.

Sadly I think whatever they do, they will never top google.

Woah. Just tried this searching for “Hot Hot Heat”. Very very cool. Of course I wish they had full songs, but I understand why they “don’t”. (aka letting you not have the full song for free) Still, I like it though.
(BTW, someone should patent “gmusic” now.)

@Bush:
I bet they will buddy. gMusic is probably not far away

I agree WarMMO, Google will always be the peoples search engine of choice, even though the new Yahoo search platform looks good.
October 3rd, 2007 16:17
I agree. Google will remain the top search engine.

Google is the top, and Google will be.
But this interface is only cooler on Yahoo’s part
October 3rd, 2007 20:38
Yeah, the only thing I also liked is the interface
Really, cool!

as long as it is cool, no problem for me. the more, the merrier!

@Shankar:

I agree buddy, the interface is very nice
@Haris:
Yahoo is probably hoping that the new interface will draw more users.
@syahid:
Haha well said buddy

I hope google also comes with something like this .

@Madhur:
I’ve been wondering why Google hasn’t done it yet. They probably will. Maybe they’re busy with the GPhone haha
October 4th, 2007 17:03
Google will remain on top. I have noticed that a few bloggers simply by posting 7-10 posts per day (loaded with keywords) were able to gain 6000 or more daily pageviews.
It’s a way to work Google. They are proving that keyword laden quantity, not quality is king. I give up…LOL

@Bobby:
They should change it to “Keyword is King”. It’s the truth anyway lol
