Spot The Phish And Get A Chance To Win A $100 Amazon Gift Card

Carnegie Mellon University has developed an anti-phishing quiz to increase awareness for phishing sites. The online game called Anti-Phishing Phil, is a flash based test that focuses on teaching users how to spot fraudulent sites by looking at the site’s URL.

The game gives tips by dissecting site URLs and showing where it’s actually pointing at. Fraudulent sites with misspelled words similar to legit sites are also displayed.

Test participants also have a chance to win a $100 in Amazon.com gift card by submitting their email at the end of the quiz. There is a follow up quiz after 5-8 days, and CMU will inform users who have submitted their email when the next quiz is available.

Even without the gift card raffle, the test is a good way for inexperienced web surfers to learn more about fraudulent sites and how to spot them.
