Microsoft has just released Silverlight 1.0, the browser plugin for streaming multimedia, games, and video. A big addition that wasn’t included in the beta, is that it will include support for Linux. Microsoft is reportedly working with Novell regarding Silverlight support for Linux.
Beet.TV was able to talk to head developer Brian Goldfarb about the launch.

Joost has confirmed their acquisition of OnTheToob.com. OnTheToob helps Joost users create their own channels and access them from within the player itself. The site also serves as a programming guide for Joost.

Google has just published a new patent that seems to suggest the search engine giant’s intention of implementing a payment system for mobile phones. While SMS payment systems are not entirely new, Google’s GPay is interesting because it could possibly be an exclusive service to the GPhone.

PayPal’s subscription service has been down since Aug. 30 and the service’s users are understandably getting upset. PayPal merchants are getting antsy with the slowness of the repair process.
