USB 3.0 Coming Soon
For those of you who feel that USB 2 is as fast as a snail, this should cheer you up. Intel and a few other companies are working to promote USB 3.0. The next generation will transfer data up to 4.8Gbits per second. This is ten times faster than USB 2 transfer speeds. The next generation will be backwards compatible with USB 2 so you don’t have to worry.
Intel technology strategist, Jeff Ravencraft, mentioned:
“The digital era requires high-speed performance and reliable connectivity to move the enormous amounts of digital content now present in everyday life. USB 3.0 will meet this challenge while maintaining (USB 2.0’s) ease-of-use experience.”
High five to Chris Mellor.

boot an OS from the new USB drives…Already have something like 16 GB capacities…definitely enough for Windows XP and Linux distros… If, USB 3.0 is as they claim 10 times faster and not just in theory but in practice then that will be pretty darn impressice but I’ll have to see it to believe it.
