Yahoo Mail Adds SMS Feature

Yahoo Mail has a new version and it looks great. The biggest addition is the ability to send text messages to mobile phones. This feature makes Yahoo the first free web-based email service to offer sms functions.

When you send a text message, it will appear as a talk bubble next to your avatar in the mail window. The person who got your message can reply through text. This feature should be immensely popular as it provides a convenient way of communication all from one place.

The sms feature will be available to users from the United States, Canada, India and the Philippines.

Other features include the ability to send instant messages to users of Windows Live Messenger, and six colors to customize the interface.

The new interface has now added tabbed browsing. Clicking on your contact list or compose will open a new tab.

Users have the option of switching back to the old version if they prefer the classic look.
