Torrentspy Blocks Search From US Residents
Popular torrent site, Torrentspy is now blocking all searches made by US residents. This move is their response to last month’s order by a California judge that Torrentspy create logs of its visitors’ activities while on the site.
Residents of the US who try to perform a search will be redirected to Torrentspy’s privacy page where a message states:
Torrentspy Acts to Protect Privacy
Sorry, but because you are located in the USA you cannot use the search features of the Torrentspy.com website.Torrentspy’s decision to stop accepting US visitors was NOT compelled by any Court but rather an uncertain legal climate in the US regarding user privacy and an apparent tension between US and European Union privacy laws.
With the amount of sources for torrents, US residents will hardly notice one less service.
High five to Ernesto.

What :(, I’m a sad sad Gnome. TS was my favorite torrent search engine. You know, there are other reasons to use torrents. Another case of removing something completely because it can be used for bad, and completely missing the good parts.

Poor Americans
May I recommend isohunt.com? Heard that isohunt might have to do the same thing

@GnomeyNewt:
You could always try fulldls.com
@Thomas:
Really? That’s too bad. That’s one of the better ones.

errmmm.. you can find just about any torrent you need at thepiratebay.
Or you could make the leap to usenet (newsgroups.) You will find it hard to go back to torrents after getting your feet wet with usenet.

@Bucky:
A friend of mine has been using usenet for a while now. He says that he finds everything he needs and gets it at amazing speeds.

I use it often and I can max my 4MEG cable connection easily.
I pay an extra $15 per month for premium news servers, but it is well worth it.

“With the amount of sources for torrents, US residents will hardly notice one less service.”
Agreed.

I’ve always preferred usenet. I can live without torrents
August 29th, 2007 06:21
good thing im canadian lol, im sure there there’s lots of other torrents available to the U.S public
August 29th, 2007 07:04
Yea, I’ve always gone w/ Pirate Bay b/c it’s easy to view comments and see which torrents are legit. Every other torrent search site I’ve seen has files which seem to be obvious viruses. AOE III - 4.6mb? Yea right…
August 29th, 2007 21:38
Just use other country proxy then…
August 30th, 2007 20:23
@Bucky:

Heh, I bet you can max it out real fast.
@Bush:
@Mike:
MY friend’s bugging me to switch too hehe
@Shaun:
LOL
@jkillah1:
That’s true. I’ve seen a lot of those types. I wonder if anyone actually falls for it. Pirate bay is one of the best
@AskaX:
That’s one solution yeah

I have tried out a bunch of different spots for my torrents - I really like Demonoid now. It’s fast and they have just about everything.
