Acer Buys Gateway For $710 Million
Acer will be acquiring Gateway Inc. for $710 million, which will effectively make Acer the third largest pc vendor in the world. The deal will have Acer purchasing all the outstanding shares of Gateway for $1.90 per share.
This move will give Acer a slight boost against competitor, Lenovo, who have announced plans to acquire Packard Bell.
IDC director of personal systems research, Bryan Ma, said:
“This is definitely a good play for them from the U.S. consumer perspective. However, the big question is how Acer plans to integrate Gateway with its own operations, and how smoothly the integration process will go.”
Why do I have a feeling that Google will buy them all in the end?

Greetings,
Acer seems to be really getting their act together. I was at a recent dealer conference and was impressed with their focus and direction. The newer models seem pretty solid as well.
Wish I could say the same for Lenovo.
Regards,
Rick
