7 Classic Computer Ads
With the speed at which technology advances, it’s fun to look back on earlier computers and gadgets just to see how far we’ve come. If your computer isn’t top of the line, don’t worry. Take a look at these old computer ads and you’ll feel better.
Thanks to Marcin Wichary for giving me permission to use the following images.
1. Everyone knows that the best thing for your computer is a regular defrag. What’s the next best thing? Take a look.

2. If you want to be able to blog or surf the web wherever you go, you’ll need a decent laptop like this one.

3. Can’t afford the latest iMac? How about an older version?

4. Don’t like Apple? How about a PC?

5. Serious computer users need serious storage. Like this.

6. Hardcore gamer? You’ll need a top of the line mouse.

7. If you’re going to be productive, you’ll need the right software.

Now take a look at your computer. Doesn’t it look good?

Good stuff! Hey now, my main drive is still only 20gb. But everything is installed/stored on my other drives so it works out just fine giving windows
a drive all to itself!

@GnomeyNewt:

This post is great. All I can say is LOL ! I was actually thinking of getting myself a laptop and Toshiba almost convinced me to opt-in for a hybrid of theirs, but when I saw this beauty .. I just couldn’t help myself and ordered it for me, unfortunately people at the museum told me that .. it’s not for sale.. relics are for everyone to watch and not my personal use.
( Ignore me, I’m still hungover )

Frighteningly enough, I actually had a Mac with an 80 MB hard drive.. ya gotta pay extra for the big stuff
Great post. I love seeing vintage stuff like this; I can’t wait to see today’s ads for iPhone in 10 years.

80mb is very high before. I owned one 20mb and we can almost store anything there.

vintage computers! lol… those things used to be the very “in” thing you know, just 20 years and see how things have changed so drastically.
and those ads somewhat reminds me of my study of ads in the 70s and 80s ahhaa… graphic designer syndrome…

[…] seeing how old computer ads can bring back appreciation for your computer, it’s time to look at another batch of old ads. […]

I remember those and more besides. In fact I’ve still got several dozen 5.25 inch floppies. How many remember using cassette tape for storage before floppies?
For that matter, I’ve got a Tandy Color Computer 3 (circa 1985) that still works.
September 4th, 2007 13:03
@Ed:
A working Tandy? Now that’s sweet! Collectors would probably pay good money for that.
