Snopes: Are The Rumors True?
Everyone gets rumors emailed to them by friends everyday. Some receive incredible photos, urban legends, and amazing stories. While all these are entertaining, sometimes you’d like know if the rumor or unbelievable photograph you’re looking at is true.
Snopes is your best bet to find out the truth. Think of it as an online myth buster. The site has an impressive collection of urban legends, strange news stories, rumors, fallacies, and a lot more. Snopes breaks everything down in separate categories for easier browsing.

Every rumor or legend uses Snopes’ Ratings Key which gives readers a fast way of knowing whether the specific story is true or not. When viewing stories on single pages, Snopes mentions the origin of the story, and shows the date it was last updated.

Snopes doesn’t just say if a legend is true or not, it provides a detailed explanation for the reader to view as well. Take a look at the story about the mermaid in Florida.
Remember that if you do decide to visit Snopes, productivity will be a thing of the past.

I love Snopes, I used to work in a call center, and i would get so many emails, the bill gates one where he’ll give you money for passing on an email, or McDonalds will, or whatever. After a while I started copying and pasting from Snopes and “responding to all” with the real truth, I stopped getting them pretty quickly.

I have used and loved Snopes.com for many years now. For awhile it seemed as if every time I received an email (always a blanket email with everyone’s email addy disclosed), it was of an incredulous nature.
My reply was to fire off the Snopes address and ask the well meaning sender to check the info themselves. I wonder if I can retroactive referral fees or something?

I love Snopes. I can’t begin to tell you how many times I’ve had to refer people to that site after they sent me some BS email forward about some nonsensical crap they fell for.
If only more people knew of it and would check it BEFORE forwarding the crap they send to everyone. The world (and my mailbox) would be a better place.
Shine on,
Aaron
