EA To Stop Online Support For Old Games

EA Logo Electronic Arts announced that it will be discontinuing its online service for most of its non-2007 sports games starting on September 1. Games on PS2, Xbox 360, PSP, and PC will be affected by the change.

This is hardly suprprising considering the new ‘08 titles are getting ready to come out.
The ‘07 titles should still be fine.

Here’s the list of games that will be affected:

Arena Football (PlayStation 2, Xbox)
FIFA Soccer 06 (Xbox 360, PC)
FIFA Soccer 06 (PS2, PSP, PC, Xbox)
Fight Night Round 3 (PSP, Xbox)
Madden NFL 06 (Xbox 360, PC, PS2, PSP, Xbox)
Marvel Nemesis: Rise of the Imperfects (PS2, Xbox)
MVP 07 NCAA Baseball (PS2, Xbox)
NASCAR 06 Total Team Control (PS2, Xbox)
NBA Live 06 (Xbox 360, PC, PS2, PSP, Xbox)
NCAA Football 2005 (Xbox)
NCAA Football 2006 (PS2, Xbox)
NCAA March Madness 06 (PS2, Xbox)
NFL Head Coach (PC, Xbox, PS2)
NHL 06 (PC, PS2, Xbox)
Tiger Woods PGA Tour 06 (Xbox 360, Xbox)

2005 sports games are fine, but I didn’t expected EA to stop online support for even 2006 games. That’s not good. They are just an year old.

That surprised me too. Maybe it’s their way of getting more people to buy the ‘07 titles.
