Comodo Firewall Pro: Free Alternative To Win XP Firewall
If you’re using the built-in firewall that comes with Windows XP, you might want to consider using a different one. Windows XP’s built-in firewall is not bad but it doesn’t have configurable outbound protection. Comodo Firewall Pro is a good alternative to the one that comes with XP. It’s also free.

Comodo’s wizard’s will help inexperienced users with configuring their security settings. Experienced users can fine tune the settings and check their firewall’s security settings by using Comodo’s online vulnerability scanner. Popups let you know of any important events.

If you don’t have a lot of experience with configuring personal firewalls, check out the documentation and faq.
How many of you are using a different firewall than the one that comes with Windows?

This is a whole lot better on the eye than Zone Alarm, which is full of “GO PRO” advertisements…

I have been using Kerio Sunbelt free firewall. This looks interesting though. Good find man!

I may give this a go for the heck of it. Any idea how it compares to Zone Alarm?

It’s been a long time since I used Zone Alarm .. I can’t remember

This is definitely worth a try guys. I’ve been using it for over a year and I suspect once you install it you won’t try anything else. It has never given me a problem, plus they have a pretty good support forum.

@Mark:
Ahh now that’s beautiful. When my my good buddy says it great, you can bet on it.

This is definitely better than the free version of Zone Alarm. If you paid for Zone Alarm, I’d use it simply because you did! There isn’t much different between the two.

I haven’t had a chance to look for a comparison to Vista’s firewall but I have a feeling it won’t be left in the dust.

I think Firewalls don’t do much ,many good antivirus’s have a built in Firewall which is pretty good and does the Job

I’ve been a fan of Comodo Firewall for about a year. Its a great firewall if you run Windows XP
BUT I upgraded to Vista and then its ixnay on the Comodo Firewall.
There is an Alpha version out, but I’m not running that on any of my PCs, so as BB writes this is for Windows XP only.

I think the firewall for Vista has configurable outbound protection already right?
