Brown Talk: Open Comments Batch 8

Brown TalkSunday means that I get to be a normal reader instead of being the author. Thanks to Matt of BAYB for giving me the idea. For those unfamiliar with open comments, this just means that you can talk about anything you want.

Nothing is off-topic.

Bring some food and drinks and let’s talk  .

For all the shy people out there(like me) who come to visit but never comment, this is your chance  .

This post is all yours.

Oooh, the coveted “1st comment” honors! How could I be so lucky?

Did anyone else notice a marked dip in their site traffic on Friday, July 13th?

Yeah I noticed that too. Don’t tell me some people avoid surfing the web on Friday the 13th hehe. I was wondering about the dip in traffic though.

I must have been one of the lucky ones. I had pretty good traffic on Friday :) It’s actually been pretty consistent lately. I don’t know what I’m doing differently but I should keep doing it…hehe.

Luckily no. My traffic actually jumped by about 10 to 227 visitors on Friday. And what’s funny about that is 27 is my favorite number and 227 was my dorm room number in college!

But Saturday I wasn’t so lucky. Traffic slumped a bit…and there was nothing I could do about it. I was babysitting for a friend all day and evening so I had no time to post anything. Oh well.

Anyway, I wanted to wish everyone here who comments the best of luck and success with their blogs!

    Shine on,
    Aaron

Talkin` about traffic, is me or saturday-sunday usual traffic going way lower than other days ?

Yes Valentin, generally traffic levels do go down on the weekends since many people are out and about and doing things that are not work-related.

Historically, the best traffic days are Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday (according to most sources)…though some do list Saturday as a high traffic day as well.

As for me, there’s no hard and fast rule other my posting levels. My traffic is the same on all days of the week. The only thing that seems to affects it is my posting frequency.

    Shine on,
    Aaron

Bush - YUM! I myself just finished making one of my favs…a chocolate pudding pie with graham cracker crust. No doubt I’ll already have eaten half of it by day’s end.

My traffic went up on Friday, and on Saturday - but today (Sunday) is a whole other story.

@Aaron - Chocolate pudding pie!?!? O_O!!! That sounds ten times better than the Fruit & Nut bar I bought at the 7-Eleven. Yum!

    Hey Danielle,

Hey, nothing wrong with Fruit & Nut bars…all you have to do is dip them in a little chocolate pudding pie and they taste delicious! :P

@confessing7girl - Since I started blogging, it seems that more and more I am turning down invites to go out.

@Aaron - Yeah but this would require me to make a pudding pie. Hmmm… might actually be a good idea.

What tips do you guys have for building traffic? I am currently researching this and what to know what has worked best for you guys?

Tom, best thing for traffic is to let people know you are out there. Regularly visit other blogs and engage in the discussions. People also mention forums too. This has helped my traffic stay at a fairly consistent level, but as always I’m looking for MORE!
