Tag2Find: New Desktop Search

Tag2Find LogoSearching for files on your hard drive can be a pain when you can’t remember the file’s name. If you have multiple hard drives, searching takes longer than you would like. If you don’t feel like using one of the popular desktop search applications like Google Desktop or Windows Desktop Search, you can try using tag2find.

Tag2Find is a free desktop search application that minimizes search times by letting you add tags to all your files. You won’t need to remember the name of the file, just search for a particular tag and you’ll get results quickly. Of course, you’ll have to tag most if not all your files for the program to be effective.

Tag2find is still in beta and only supports NTFS file systems. The program requires .NET runtime 2.0 which can be downloaded by the application itself if you don’t want to use the link I provided. Tag2find runs on Windows XP and Vista.

What desktop search application are you using?

    Interesting idea, but Google Desktop search is still the way to go. You can find anything but just knowing a few words of the file.

    Yeah, it seems that this would just create more work for you, especially if you’re messed up from the start.

    My votes with you on Google Desktop as well. I use it at work and has saved me loads of time finding things for projects. At home I use Copernic, not sure how much better it is that GD though.

    This thing would probably be easier to use if you just reformatted your hard drive. Kind of hard to imagine tagging most or all your files in all your hard drives :shock:

    Google Desktop and Copernic are the most used desktop search apps. :grin:

    @Mike:
    Maybe you could get one of the aliens in your bath tub to do it :lol:
