The Rover With A Laser
NASA’s Mars Science Laboratory (MSL) will arrive at the red planet in 2010 sporting a new gadget. MSL will be packing a mounted laser to vaporize areas of surface rock for study. MSL’s ChemCam will analyze the chemicals from any vaporized material.
The Los Alamos National Laboratory is responsible for the completion and testing of the ChemCam instrument. It’s estimated that the ChemCam will be shipped to NASA/JPL in 2008 for integration with the rover.

This could be the start of our invasion of Mars

LOL…Hopefully they don’t inadvertently spark up an intergalactic war with those lasers

If the Martians see that laser, they’ll probably laugh and say “What a cute flashlight!”

Hopefully, it will last as long last the current rovers have… or even longer
