Brown Talk: Open Comments Batch 4
Sunday means that I get to be a normal reader instead of being the author. For those unfamiliar with open comments, this just means that you can talk about anything you want. Nothing is off-topic. The first two times I did this wasn’t so successful. Last week’s Brown Talk was pretty good. We got around 16 comments. Let’s see if we can get more.

I was sitting here thinking that although it is Sunday, these days it’s not really much different to the rest of the week. The days of a quiet world with almost everything closed on a Sunday is over. IS this a good thing or not?
One attitude with some folks always makes me smile?
I mention I’m doing some work. The reply is invariably the same. “On Sunday? You work on a Sunday?”
Well, I don’t regularly work on a Sunday these days, but sometimes an emergency arises.
Anyway, the point I make to those that pose that question is this. “If you have every Sunday off work, and you go out and enjoy yourself, what about the folks that are working to enable you to go and eat and visit places on Sunday?”

What with nothing being off-topic, could I be so bold as to drop a proud but sorta shameless plug for a project that I recently tackled?
We’ve been doing some sorta-last-minute preparations for the annual Roswell 2K New Beetle Car Show and finally got around to painting the brake calipers on my wife’s VW New Beetle Convertible, Caliente.
The results are very nice indeed! Not too bad for a techie guy who barely knows the difference between a crescent wrench and a crescent roll!

I used to have to work weekends but thankfully, outside of about once a month when I’m on-call, I always have Sundays off. This is the day that Dede & I spend catching up with our moms, calling far-away friends, and kinda recharging for the week ahead. I big ol’ tip of the hat goes to those who do have to work on Sundays!

Great concept.
It should be very similar, I got the idea from you.

Happy Fathers Day! This is my first here.. and now I’m a regular at BYAB comment friday.
Btw, kylescove.com has an interesting discussion going on about 2-column vs 3-column themes.. head on over if you’d like to pitch in your $.02

This is a neat little concept, commenting on something that doesn’t exist until after I’ve commented on it. Wait, did that make sense? Probably not.
Anywhooo, as I sit here typing away without any rhyme or reason I can’t help but notice how terribly dusty my keyboard is. It’s no wonder I’m constantly sneezing. Have you found any shnazzy gadgets to properly eradicate keyboard dust and fuzz yet, Baron? I’ve tried those cans of compressed air. They don’t quite seem to do the trick.

@Mike:
I got one for you. Take a look at this.

June 18th, 2007 06:44
Happy fathers day!
Have to get around getting a kid of my own
June 18th, 2007 08:39
So the Best Buy commercial kept coming on this weekend saying, “Hey!-Get fathers the gifts they want!” So naturally, I turn to my wife and say, “Yeah, Get fathers the gifts they want!” Meaning HDTV, High Def DVD Players, XBox 360, take your pick! And what do I get this Father’s Day?
My 2 week old peeing in my face as I change his diaper.

@Bush:
You probably should have talked to your kid first

Happy Fathers day to all

I used to work Sundays when I was a waitor all the way through college. Weekends were always the best money & usually people who work on the weekends know that’s their best opportunity to pull in “the big bucks”, so I’m sure most of them don’t mind.
