Get Someone Else To Do Your Chores With DoMyStuff.com

Have some chores that you can’t or don’t want to do? Too many chores, too little time? Why not outsource all your chores and have more free time? DoMyStuff is an online service that lets people post any task or chore and let other users bid on it. Think eBay but with chores instead of items.
When you post the chore you want taken care of, other members(called assistants) will then bid how much they’ll charge for doing the task for you. You choose how long the bidding will run, and if you want, the qualifications of the bidders. You can limit the bidding to people within your zip code, city, or state.
Fraud shouldn’t be a problem since DoMyStuff has an online escrow account that lets you forward your payment for the task. The bidder will be able to see that the account has been funded and get to work completing the task for you. While the task is being done, the bidder cannot access the funds. Only you can release the funds once the task is completed to your satisfaction. The service has a public and private message board that will let you communicate with your assistant should more information be needed.
I think this has some potential. It basically boils down to how much you think the time you can save from doing a certain chore is worth. Just be careful who you pick.

What scares me is how this can be abused when placed in the wrong hands. I mean, compare this to MySpace, in a way. You’ve heard the stories that blamed them for being the mechanism of choice for sexual predators, and for good reason. But that was meant only to be an *online* community.
Now, with domystuff, they’re encouraging people to meet in person with the intention of doing “chores”. I’m not saying that it won’t be used for good, but the potential for the opposite appears to be high and with graver consequences. Hmm…

In regards to your concern with the safety aspect I would agree that there is a form of risk involved. Would a possible security check be in order to be able to participate?
I like the idea though. Let’s see how it pans out.

@Mark:
There’s a risk I agree. I think there should be some sort of security check like Stephen mentioned.
