EA Plans Sims Movie

The SimsAccording to Variety, 20th Century Fox will be making a movie version of Electronic Arts’ popular life simulation, ‘The Sims’. The movie will feature real life actors instead of animation. No word yet on who the actors or director will be. Brian Lynch will be writing the screenplay and John Davis(Eragon) will be the producer. Rod Humble of Electronic Arts will be managing EA’s property.

Rod Humble commented:

“The Sims has done an interactive version of an old story, which is what it’s like to have infinite power and how do you deal with it. Given that that’s an old story, you can imagine how easily that would translate to traditional storytelling.”

I have no idea how they’ll pull this off. Will we see real actors talking in gibberish like the game? Will actors be standing next to burning ovens screaming like crazy? :lol:

What do you guys think?

    What do I think? Well I never liked the entire SIMS thing anyway, so I know I won’t like the movie! I think the movie will just be another bad videogame to big screen port, yeah sure there will be those die-hard sims fans that will love it no matter what, but I don’t think that there are enough of them out there to warrant a movie… My prediction: It will Bomb!

    Hmm I’m a Sims fan but I really can’t imagine how they will pull this off without being cheesy.

    @Trinity:
    I’ve been thinking about what approach they’ll use for the movie version but I can’t really think of a good one :neutral:

    I LOVE the Sims! It’s one of the funnest games, and of course I like controlling other peoples lives. =) I love the creativity Sims gives me - it lets me build houses, create people, etc. This has been my favorite computer game for years now.

    However, I don’t see how they’re going to pull off a movie. I think the movie might turn out to be stupid, but only time will tell. However, I think I’m just going to stick with the game. =)

    Tuesday Tech Buzz - May 29th, 2007…

    Hmm… what is the point of making the movie with “real” actors?…
