Mozilla Launches Thunderbird 2
Mozilla has recently launched the final version of their open source email client, Thunderbird 2. Thunderbird 2 now blocks remote images in email messages as an added security feature. Users are now able to add tags to messages replacing the static label that users assigned to messages in the older version.
The search box will now display results as soon as the user starts typing. Notification for new messages will now appear on the lower right corner of the screen with the name of the sender and the subject title. The notification will fade after a few seconds.
I haven’t used an email client in a long time. Are there any Thunderbird users out there who can tell me if it’s any good?

Day to day I use GMail through the web interface, but I usually try and download all my mail on a weekly basis to Thunderbird, just so I have it for backup purposes.
I’ve not used lots of Thunderbird features because of that, but I’m much more happy using it than Outlook which seemed much slower to me.

I never used Outlook because of all the security holes. I think the last client I used was Eudora, but that was years ago. I think I might give Thunderbird a shot.
