Kincafe: Family Networking Just Got Better
I’ve always been a fan of networking sites that specifically cater to families. One such site was Famster whom I wrote an article about a while back. Kincafe is also a networking site that caters to families and their friends who want to stay connected while living apart.
As soon I got to their main page I felt at home. Kincafe does not look like your typical networking site. With a clean layout and easy to use interface, Kincafe feels like your own personal portal for your family.
Let’s talk about features:
- Security - Kincafe lets you decide what you want to share and with whom you want to share with. The category list lets you decide who you want to give access to per category.
- Interactive Family Tree - Your family tree holds all the info you need for every member. Hovering your mouse over any image will show you icons that link to that person’s profile, album, blog, and even a spouse’s side of the family. Right-clicking an image will give you a little pop-up that shows more details about that person. You can even drag your family tree to reposition it.

You can also control the access permission at the individual album or blog level. Very nice.
- Photo Albums - Uploading your images is a snap with their bulk photo uploader. Choosing a style for your album is easy as Kincafe provides you with a variety of layouts and themes. Customize your album by rotating, zooming, and repositioning images within your album.
- Blogs and Announcements - The blog editor will let you share your recipes to relatives, announce any personal news, and of course blog.
As soon as you login you’ll be able to see the latest albums, blogs, announcements from within your network.
I’d recommend this site to anyone who wants a family portal of their own. With great features that are easy to use, data security that’s simple to configure, Kincafe is definitely a winner.

Only if my mom know how to switch the computer on, it will be useful.

I have a family web site at Famster. While I love the:
- Private online networking space for your family and friends,
- Lack of advertising,
- Easiest-to-use blogging tool, and
- Unlimited space for photos and videos
I am frustrated by some of the “obvious” things they can do to make the site more intuitive and user- and visitor-friendly.
That’s why I’ve launched my blog at http://www.ILoveFamster.com.
Through it, I share what I think is both fabulous and frustrating about Famster. If you are a current, former, or potential Famster user, stop by and share your thoughts.

I use http://www.thefamilyforest.com . The privacy features are far more intuitive, letting you specify exactly who you want to share your content with based on how you’re related to other family members. I highly recommend thefamilyforest.com if you’re looking for a family based social network that is easy to use and more intuitive.
