Viacom Sues Google And YouTube For $1 Billion
Viacom has just hit Google and YouTube with a $1 Billion lawsuit for showing nearly 160,000 video clips belonging to Viacom. Viacom says that their clips have been viewed more than 1.5 billion times on YouTube.
Google doesn’t seem worried and said that they were confident that the copyright holders’ legal rights were respected by YouTube.
My guess is that Viacom and Google are in the middle of a not so smooth-going negotiation and that Viacom is just turning up the heat.
