I’ve always liked using Mozilla Thunderbird so I could have my email separate from my browsing. Being the spoiled (read lazy) Mozilla user that I am, I’ve always wished that I didn’t have to open links contained in emails in my browser and just open them in Thunderbird instead.
If you’ve been wishing for the same thing, you’re going to love this.
ThunderBrowse is an extension for Thunderbird that will add a URL bar to Thunderbird’s interface which will let you view websites inside Thunderbird without having to access your browser.

It’s taken ten months for the official announcement, but it’s finally happened. Some of you might remember that when GoLive 9 was released, it was available only as a download with no boxed versions.
Adobe has finally released an official announcement stating that the development and sales of GoLive will be discontinued starting April 28, 2008. You can see more details of the announcement over at Macworld.
Adobe has stated that they will still be providing GoLive tutorials on their site. Of course, how long these will be available, is anybody’s guess.
For those of you using GoLive, will you switch to Dreamweaver or stick it out with the last version of GoLive?

Today’s designated productivity cure is a browser game called Top Cop. Your objective is to go after bank robbers and recover as much loot as you can. You don’t carry a firearm in this game. You have a club and pepper spray. Powerups are scattered throughout the game along with minor targets like aggressive rodents heh.

Now go and spray some rodents

Those of you who’re looking for a new way to fight productivity this weekend will find this next tool interesting. Graffiti Creator will let you create your own graffiti in minutes.
You can choose from a few available fonts and proceed to the generator. Once there, you have access to different effects like yolk, filling, limbs, waves, and more. Using the generator is simple enough. Just choose an effect and play around with the sliders.

While you can generate your own graffiti in a short amount of time, you’ll find yourself experimenting more and more with the different effects. It’s an efficient productivity cure.
Here’s the result of my first try:

One of my kids said that it would look good on his shirt haha.
If you play around with the generator, leave me a link so I can view your creation.

For anyone who regularly spends time on the web, bookmarking your favorite sites is part of your surfing routine. The problem starts when your collection of bookmarked sites becomes too big which makes looking for a specific site a bit tedious.
Having your saved sites in specific categories help but wouldn’t it be better if you could have another way of easily identifying individual bookmarks? How about adding previews to your bookmarks? Sound interesting?

Popular payment service, PayPal, is planning on blocking browsers that don’t have any anti-phishing feature. If implemented, this would mean that older versions of Internet Explorer and Firefox would be blocked. Apple’s Safari browser will also be blocked by the payment service should the plan come to fruition.
PayPal’s Chief Information Security Officer, Michael Barrett, said in a paper (PDF) released at the recent RSA conference:
“Letting users view the PayPal site on one of these browsers is equal to a car manufacturer allowing drivers to buy one of their vehicles without seatbelts.”
This shouldn’t be a problem for IE and Firefox users as both browsers are updated regularly. Safari users, on the other hand, will just have to use a different browser when accessing the PayPal site.
What do you think?

Now that the week is over, you’re all ready to relax right? Before you get too relaxed, it’s time to take a look at today’s designated productivity cure. Findin’ Stuff is a simple browser game that has you, well, finding stuff heh.
Just click on the object that’s indicated in the middle. That’s it. You do have to find the objects quickly to get a good score. If you click on the wrong one, game over.

If you’re a regular web surfer, you probably have at least half a dozen tabs of your favorite sites open at any given. If you’re a forum junkie as well, add another half-dozen tabs for your favorite boards. That’s just a conservative guess. Most people would have more than twelve tabs open in their browser at all times.
While there are various browser extensions for enhancing multiple open tabs, wouldn’t it be better if you could view all your favorite message boards in just one place that’s also separate from your browser?
